Toronto Cemetery Digital Photography ProjectWe have submitted basic burial records for about 55,000 graves from each of the eleven Jewish cemeteries in the GTA to the JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR). The second phase of our project is to digitally photograph all of the matzevahs (headstones). We have completed the photography for both Jones Avenue and Pape Avenue (Holy Blossom or Jews' Cemetery) Cemeteries. In April 2008, JOWBR posted about 1,190 digital photographs of these headstones. Dawes Road Cemetery is the next to be photographed. Over 30 people, both JGS Toronto Society members and non-members, have volunteered to help with the photography and the preparation of the photos for submission to JOWBR.
