Peter Jassem is a Polish-born architect and urban planner. Peter’s interest in Polish-Jewish heritage started with the discovery of his Jewish roots some 14 years ago.
He has served as an executive member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Canada (Toronto) for several years, has published articles in Shem Tov and organized the International Conference on Jewish Genealogy as a program director in Toronto in 2002. Peter is a very active member of the board of directors of Jewish Record Indexing – Poland, an organization that has created the world’s largest searchable online database of over 4 million Jewish records from Poland. He was a long-time member of the Steering Committee of Gesher Galicia, the world-wide Jewish genealogical organization of researchers tracing their roots to the province of Galicia. He joined the Polish-Jewish Heritage Foundation of Canada about ten years ago and has been its Chair since 2002. As a Canadian representative of the North American Council for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, Peter promotes this outstanding upcoming institution among Canadians. |
