British Newspaper Archive Opens Where You Can Search Historical Newspapers

The British Library and Brightsolid are working in partnership to digitize
British historical newspapers. The website offers access to up to 4 million
fully searchable pages, featuring more than 200 newspaper titles from every
part of the UK and Ireland. While there are "only" 4 million pages digitized
as of today, thousands of new pages will be added to the collection daily
until they reach 40 million pages..over the next 10 years. The newspapers
mainly date from the 19th century, but includes runs dating back to the
first half of the 18th century. Click here.

You need to register to search the archives. Registration is easy and free.
A list of all publications and dates are available on the website, as is the
possibility to browse by location. All searching is free on this site but it
costs to view images in the viewer.

To purchase a subscription and learn about the charges click here.
One can purchase a 2 day package, a monthly package or a yearly package.

I have no affiliation with Brightsolid or the British Library. This is
posted solely for information for those who may be researching Great Britain
historical newspapers.
