Les  has been a member of the society for 20 years and has been a member of the programming committee since 2002-3. As a board member, Les is chair of the programming committee and he has taken on a further leadership role as vice-president.
 
In 1965 Les travelled to Russia, to visit Leningrad and to meet family in Moscow. He also travelled to Russia to meet more of his extended family in 2002, and continued on to Ukraine to visit his father's birthplace in Zhitomir. On his mother's side he has found connections to Latvia (Riga) and Lithuania (Seirijai)
 
Being semi-retired Les is planning more genealogy forays. His next trip in 2012 to Kiev will combine his love of soccer (3 games as part of Euro 2012) with a trip to his ancestral village.
