Awards Committee Announcement Print E-mail
2010-02-27

Each year the IAJGS (International Association of Jewish
Genealogical Societies) recognizes individuals and organizations with
four prestigious awards for excellence in Jewish genealogy.

As was done in the last two years, rather than submitting nominations via
email or postal mail, nominations for all four award categories are to be
submitted online via a One-Step form.  If additional "hard-copy" material is
required to be sent, complete instructions are contained on the online
One-Step form, as well as printed below.  Our intent is to make it easier
for the submitters and for the committee members who have to review the
submissions.

The online form is at available here.

For 2010, as in past years, the four award categories are:

1. IAJGS Lifetime Achievement Award

2. Outstanding Contribution to Jewish Genealogy via the Internet, Print
or Electronic Product

3. Outstanding Programming or Project that Advanced the Objectives of
Jewish Genealogy

Hard-Copy Material Submissions: It would be helpful (although not
required) for nominations to include five copies of actual presentations
to live audiences, audio or video recordings, printed presentations,
CDs, etc.  One copy should be sent to each of the committee members.
A list of the committee members' postal addresses will be sent upon request
after receipt of the online submission.  Submissions and supporting
documentation will not be returned and remain the property of the IAJGS.

4. Outstanding Publication by a Member Organization of IAJGS

Hard-Copy Material Submissions: Submissions should include five issues
or copies of the publication.  One copy should be sent to each of the
committee members.  A list of the committee members' postal addresses
will be sent after receipt of the online submission.  Submissions and
supporting documentation will not be returned and remain the property of
the IAJGS.

Please note that nominations can be made only by member organizations of the
IAJGS and not by individuals.  However, we encourage individuals to be part
of the process by contacting their local organization and suggesting worthy
recipients.  Here is a list of the JGSs and SIGs that make up the IAJGS.

The recipients of the 2010 awards will be announced at the annual IAJGS
conference banquet in Los Angeles on July 15, 2010.  The deadline for award
nominations is April 1, 2010.
