2010 Call for Volunteers Print E-mail
Volunteers are the backbone of any healthy not-for-profit organization.  The JGS of Toronto is no different from others in needing to motivate and replenish our stock of volunteers and helpers.
At the present time we need the following people to help our organization.

25th Anniversary Chairperson:  Our society is celebrating its silver jubilee this year.  We are planning a social event for October of 2010.  We need a Committee chair who will lead a team of volunteers to organize this event to showcase our society as well as recognize members who have contibuted to its advancement.

Publicity Chairperson:  This person would inform the community to our general meetings, presentations and workshops.  This individual would head a committee whose role would be to contact synagogues, societies, groups and the media and make them aware of our presence.  This is a vitally important role in that our viability as an organization is dependent on our programs being well attended.

Cemetery Committee:  JGS Toronto is a world leader in contributing to the Jewish Online Burial Records (JOWBR) project.  We need photographers and people who are willing to transcribe cemetery records.  Shelley Stillman our chairperson welcomes all the help that she can get.

Program:  Les Kelman, our Progamming Chairperson is looking for one or two people who would like to help him source speakers and presenters for 2010/11.

Joomla Expert:  Our website is the medium that allows us to keep our members informed as well as our beacon to the rest of the genealogical world.
We need a high school student who may require volunteer hours to satisfy Ministry of Education requirements or a member who is a web techie.  This individual would have a working knowledge of Joomla, our web administration software, who would be willing to coach executve members allowing them to keep the site updated.

Membership:  Neil Richler is seeking someone to assist him in his role as committee chair to keep our membership records up to date, inform members of dues, provide IAJGS with pertinent data.
