Ancestral Mission: Unexpected Discoveries

Imagine growing up not knowing where you came from, and forbidden to ask.  Karen Lasky, a child of Holocaust survivors, explores the concept of growing up without details of her parents’ personal history.  With little historical knowledge, Karen retraces her parents’ footsteps through the concentration camps they were deported to, discovers their hidden pasts, family records and even their birth homes in Poland.   She credits this discovery with shaping the path to understanding who she is.

Speaker: Karen Lasky has been an ardent writer of poetry, a member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Canada (Toronto) and a Holocaust Education Volunteer.
